BETWEEN S U Z A N N E AND...

There are "coup de coeur" encounters like the one I had with Stéphanie WolffSuzanne is one of France's favorite wedding dress designers, who is also a favorite abroad. Our shared values for work, beauty and pure lines inspired me to share her work and her little secrets with you in our famous interview "Entre Suzanne et....".

Happy reading and discovery ;-)

BETWEEN S U Z A N N E & S T É P H A N I E, CREATOR OF THE HOUSE

EPONYM STÉPHANIE WOLFF:

                                                     Stéphanie Wolff l'atelier, why?

I created my wedding dress brand in 2009, after designing and making all my friends' dresses. In 2018, I left Paris to settle in Rennes, while continuing to distribute my creations in Paris, Nantes, London and several other partner boutiques.

My wish was to reopen a showroom in a small provincial town, a place on a human scale where I could rediscover the proximity and creativity of my early days. This opportunity arose this year in Montauban-de-Bretagne, where I now receive my customers directly.

I chose to call this space L'Atelier, because I like the idea that each fitting is a real exploration of the bride-to-be's style: some find their dress as it is in the collection, others prefer to create their own by mixing models, materials, embroidery patterns or laces.

                                                                What is your leitmotif?

"Less, but better: lighten the style to reveal the essential."

It's both an aesthetic and a life philosophy. In couture, it translates into pure lines, masterful cuts and precise details.

But it goes far beyond that: it's a way of approaching work, creation and personal choices - seeking accuracy rather than profusion, sincerity rather than effect.

As an entrepreneur, what inspires you every day?

Above all, it's the brides who inspire me - their desire to be themselves, to feel free and comfortable in their dresses.

I also draw heavily on couture from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 70s and 90s. I love observing old dresses, the delicacy of the materials, the precision of the details... all this makes me dream and feeds my search for a refined style that is both timeless and alive.

What are your 3 watchwords when it comes to managing your brand?
Minimalism, flexibility, passion.

What color would you be in a box of crayons?

I work mainly with off-whites, a range of nuances that I love for their richness and subtlety. It's a living color, never static, that leaves room for light and materials.

But I love color, all colors. If I had to choose one, it would perhaps be green - the color of my current environment, soothing and vibrant at the same time, which makes me feel so good.

What do you think about when you're alone in your car or on public transport?

When I'm driving, I try to stay focused on the road... even if the idea of a dress sometimes comes up between two traffic circles.haha!

In transit, I like to knit, my other passion - it soothes me and helps me meditate.

What's your favorite song from the '90s?

It was a decade in which I discovered bands I adore, like Blur and Oasis. But as a tribute to French chanson, I'd say Alain Bashung's La nuit je mens - and, more broadly, the whole Fantaisie militaire album, which I find absolutely intoxicating.

What kind of animal could you be?

A cat, of course: independent, curious, always at ease observing the world in silence - preferably near a window in the sun. 🐈⬛

What was the last gift you gave someone?
Sneakers for my son - he's getting sharper and sharper, you have to keep up!

What would be the gift you would dream of receiving?

An old Erka 40 knitting machine or one with jacquard capability - I'm actively looking on Le Bon Coin.

What's the funniest thing that's happened to you in the last few days?

A joke shared with my son earned us a memorable laugh ... and if not, I'm also the queen of the Pierre Richard waterfall!

What is your hair care routine?

My hair has changed in nature: I've gone from a drum stick to a slight wave, drier - and frankly, I like it.

I keep it simple: a shampoo every three days, a mask on the ends, and every six months, a little light with a balayage. I'm a fan of Jennifer Aniston's highlights!

Finally, what accessory would you suggest for the Suzanne woman?

I'd be tempted to say that it's my brides I'd like to suggest Suzanne accessories to - they'd go perfectly with the style of my dresses.

I'm totally in love with headbands, especially those in the spirit ofAlba where Louison. And I have a real crush on the barrette. My feather thingy"as well as for the incredible modernity of the hat. Romy.
